CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF VISIT TROOPS IN NIGERIAN ARMY SUPER CAMP 4 FASKARI KATSINA STATE

1. The Chief of Defence Staff General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin paid a scheduled operational visit to the Nigerian Army Super Camp 4 in Faskari Katsina state on Monday 13 July 2020. During the visit the CDS received information and operation brief on Op SAHEL SANITY.He later addressed the troops participating in the operation. He was accompanied on the visit by the representatives of the Chief of Naval Staff and the Chief of Air Staff.

2. In his welcome address the Chief of Army Staff Lt General Tukur Yusuf Buratai welcomed the CDS to the Army Super Camp 4 Faskari. He informed him of the tremendous achievement of Op SAHEL SANITY within the short period of its flag off. He mentioned the rescue of kidnapped victims, neutralization of some armed bandits and recovery arms and ammunition, more than 700 cattle and over 500 sheep. These achievements he said has helped the locals to go about their normal economic and agricultural activities without any hindrance. He thanked the CDS for finding time to visit the troops in the front line.

3. The Chief of Defence Staff in his address commended the leadership of the Nigerian Army for the establishment of the Super Camp, the successful completion of NADCEL 2020 and the flagging off of Op SAHEL SANITY to completely rid the entire North West zone of the country of banditry, cattle rustling and other forms of criminality. He said the military is constantly restrategizing on ways of fighting terrorism, banditry and other forms of criminality. One of such ways is the Super Camp concept. He pledged the support of the Defence Headquarters to the Nigerian Army in its operations.

4. He commended the soldiers for their resilience and also paid special tribute to officers and men who have continued to make sacrifices in the defence of our fatherland. He also noted that the military is the last line of defence. He also expressed gratitude to the Commander in Chief President Muhammadu Buhari for his guidance and support to the military.
