Air Chief Marshal Paul Dike was born on 18 November 1950 at Issele-Uku in Aniocha, Delta State. He started his cadet training on 22 January 1973 and was commissioned on 21 June 1975. During his career, he attended various courses including the Primary Flying Training of the Piaggio and Bulldog Aircraft. He also attended the Undergraduate Pilot Training at Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma and the Instructor Pilot Training at Randolph Air Force Base, San Antonio, Taxas. He attended the MB-339 Tactical Conversion Course and the L-39 Tactical Recurrently Training in Italy and Czechoslvakia respectively.
Air Chief Marshal Paul Dike is a graduate of the Air Command and Staff Colege, Alabama, USA, the National War College, Abuja and holds a Master Degree in Strategic Studies from the University of Ibadan. He held various Air Force appointments including Operations Officer, Instructor Pilot and Chief Flying Instructor at 303 Flying Training School. He was the Commander ECOMOG Air Detachment in Freetown and Commander National Air Defence Corps, Murtala Mohammed International Airpor Lagos. He was appointed Commander of the Presidential Air Fleet in 1997, Commanding Officer Tactical Air Command and then Chief of the Air Staff from 2006-2008. He appointed Chief of Defence Staff on 28 August 2008. He has flown the Piaggio, Bulldog, Cessna, T-37 Jet Trainer, T- 38 Super Sonic, Mig 15, Mig 17, Mig 21, L-29, L-39, MB-339 and the Alpha Jets.
