NDA popularly known in Nigeria as the Academy was established on 5 February 1964 to provide primary military officer training for the Nigerian Armed Forces. Since its inception to date, the academy has graduated 19,534 officers including 455 from the other sister African countries: Benin, Chad, Guinea, The Gambia, Niger, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Uganda and Zimbabwe. The Republics of Togo currently have 12 officer cadets respectively undergoing training in the academy. The vision of NDA is “to produce officers with broad based training in both military and academic subjects designed to serve as foundation for the future progressive development of officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces.” the academy has equally commenced and graduated its first set of female regular officers.
